The flat pat of the pad
of your sole on another
higher rung one right
after the other
tired of climbing
of being climbed over
reaching for the next
hard wooden handle
to hold to use to pull
you up the weight
of your whole body
surrendering to the strength
of your right arm in
one fluid upward movement
grasping for another
testing your reach
you slip down
landing on a level
already found unsound
you look up
you look around
and decide to fall free
